Overview

The first of two courses on one path, from design to database. Over four weeks of classes — face to face at USTED Campus in Kumasi, or live online — you design a website in Figma, build it with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and publish it for anyone to open on their phone.

Every session is three hours and works the same way: you watch your instructor build it live, build along twice, try a challenge on your own, then show what you made. Classes are small — never more than 20 students — so you get help the moment you are stuck. Your Build Cards manual takes you step by step, with a checkpoint after every step if you fall behind.

You leave with three live projects to show employers and clients: your own portfolio, a shop app with a working cart, and a website for a local business built from a real client brief. Beginners are welcome; no coding experience is needed.

When you finish, Web Application Development is the next step: it adds the backend, so the sites you build can log people in and be run by their owners.

What you will be able to do

  • Design a website in Figma for a laptop and a phone, like a professional
  • Turn a design into a real page with HTML, then style it with CSS
  • Lay pages out with Flexbox and Grid so they work on any phone
  • Make pages interactive with JavaScript: menus, dark mode and friendly form checks
  • Build a shop app with a working cart that sends orders on WhatsApp
  • Load data with fetch and JSON, and remember it with localStorage
  • Publish your work with Git, GitHub and GitHub Pages
  • Build a website for a local business from a client brief, and present it on demo day

2 Week 2 · Style and go live Make your portfolio look like your design with CSS, make it work on phones, and publish it online.
